This is politics. It is what it is, it can't be what it ain't. In this day and age of you tube, cable tv and text messaging, politics has elevated into something quite frightening. It is like a dark cloud, over a treacherous road that few people dare walk.
Politics in America has become a dirty word, a curse word, a hateful word, a word that is no longer seen as a call to public service, but rather as a call to public division. As I watched the MSM question United States Senator, Barack Obama because of his association with a minister who has uttered fire and brimstone comments as well as hateful rants I couldn't help but perceive an almost maniacal attempt of the media to box the Senator and paint him in the picture they are most comfortable with, "the angry black man."
This is the politics of guilt by association. The same politics that was used on JFK and his catholicism in a time of intense hate towards that group. A politics that was used against John McCain in 2000, and on John Kerry in 2004. The one thing that is alarming in this entire fiasco is America's willingness to respond to this negativity. We complain about our leaders being inept and yet we destroy those who want to do something about it. We complain about the cost of living in America, yet we respond to guilt by association allegations on politicians who want to change it. I have publicly and privately made the assertion that we live in a very hypocritical society. We say we don't support divisive things such as these, however we respond to it. WE RESPOND to the same division that has put us on the brink of economic collapse and foreign policy disaster.
Today I had to pay $3.70 for a gallon of gas today, I got home expecting someone to tell me why I was paying this amount of gas, but instead I heard guilt by association allegations against Senator Obama. I hoped I would hear someone explain how my mom could keep her house, but instead I heard guilt by association allegations. I hoped someone would tell me why the DOW keeps plunging day after day, but instead I hear these other distractions.
Guilt by association against John McCain, Hillary Clinton and now Senator Obama. However no one has ever come out with any documented evidence that these politicians think the way their questionable associations do. Senator Obama has written 2 books of which I received no hint of an angry black man. I have scoured through his 11 year record, and nowhere do I see an angry black man's record. Same goes for Senators McCain and Clinton.
We must remember the words of Ghandi through these periods. In the case of Senator Obama and Senator McCain this following statement couldn't be more true. "FIRST THEY IGNORE YOU, THEN THEY LAUGH AT YOU, THEN THEY FIGHT YOU, THEN YOU WIN" Senator Obama is currently being fought, but lets hope he wins against the politics of guilt by association.
THAT IS WHAT I AM BOILING ON!
